"details": "Shaun is the chief operating officer of Paralyzed Veterans of America and executive director of the PVA Research and Education Foundations, with a passion for global disability advocacy, veterans’ rights, corporate social responsibility, and marketing and branding.\r\rCastle enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2000, becoming a military police officer stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, and served in Kosovo and Macedonia in support of the Global War on Terrorism. In 2003, he was severely injured during a training exercise. Though a prosthetics surgery enabled him to walk again, he sustained further spinal cord damage. A second spinal cord surgery was unsuccessful, and during treatment at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Alabama, he discovered a life-threatening allergy to all pain medications and muscle relaxers, a complication that nearly took his life.\r\rIn 2012, Castle discovered the Lakeshore Foundation, a rehab hospital and Olympic training center in Birmingham, developing a passion for adaptive sports and wheelchair basketball. In 2014, he enrolled at the University of Alabama, where he worked on ADA compliance, served on the Diversity Committee representing students with disabilities and veterans, and helped secure funding to build the first-of-its-kind wheelchair basketball arena on campus.\r\rCastle holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, a master’s in global business management, and a second master’s in advertising and public relations with a focus in marketing communications, all from the University of Alabama. He is pursuing a doctorate in business administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.\r\rHe has testified before Congress on Social Security for people with disabilities, spoken before the Department of Transportation on Air Carrier Access legislation, and was appointed to the secretary of Veterans Affairs’ Committee on Prosthetics and Special Disabilities. In his role at PVA, he oversees communications and marketing, adaptive sports, architecture, veterans and disability employment, and research and education.\r\rCastle’s wife Stephanie, who he met in 2009, is both his biggest champion and his caregiver.",

"details": "Gaby is a Registered Interior Designer licensed in the state of Texas and serves as co-chair of Populous’ Inclusive Design Cohort. Through her design practice, she advocates for environments that foster dignity, belonging, and equitable access, ensuring spaces respond to the full spectrum of human experience. In navigating the complex world alongside her daughter — who was born with the rare condition hydranencephaly and is non-ambulatory and non-verbal — Gaby has gained a deeply personal understanding of accessibility and the everyday barriers many people face. She brings that lived perspective into her professional work, championing design solutions that move beyond compliance to create spaces that truly support the people who use them.",
