Kalas served as head of preservation at the British Film Institute, digital studio director for Discovery, archivist for DreamWorks SKG, and worked at UCLA Film & TV Archive. She was former President of AMIA and current member of the Academy, where she founded the Academy Digital Preservation Forum. She has preserved over 2,000 films and won the 2023 HPA Award for her restoration on “The Godfather.”",
