Before anchoring his work in Chicago, Michael spent years in Beijing, China, where he founded and ran Rock Against, a series of community-based creative incubators giving artists the space and funding to rapidly produce installation art, music, and film. The initiative sparked highly successful multi-year series like Rock Against Sci-Fi and Rock Against Horror, which ultimately funded and screened 64 short genre films.",
