Unleashing Students' Tech Genius to Ensure Mental Wellness
Summary
Panelists will discuss emerging tech-driven mental health solutions and the importance of involving end users – in this case, college students – in their development. Centered on the student-led creation of a first-of-its-kind AI tool to support mental health, this discussion with the project’s researchers and students will emphasize the need to let research guide how we integrate AI into healthcare to harness its benefits without creating new harms, all while empowering students to become ethical stewards of AI.

"details": "Matt Knight is a cybersecurity and AI executive who has spent his career protecting complex technology platforms and advancing the practice of security engineering.\r\rMatt served as Chief Information Security Officer at OpenAI, where he spent more than five years building and leading the company’s security, privacy, and IT engineering organizations during a period of extraordinary growth and global impact. He established a global security program that safeguarded the infrastructure and services used by hundreds of millions of people and embedded secure engineering and risk management practices across OpenAI’s technology stack. Beyond engineering, Matt helped guide the organization through complex operational and business challenges as it scaled into one of the world’s most widely used AI platforms.\r\rUnder his leadership, OpenAI became a pioneer in the emerging field of AI security. Matt directed research and engineering efforts exploring how AI can strengthen cyber defense, and translated these advances into practice by building internal and external security products based on these new defensive paradigms. He also engaged with policymakers and industry leaders to address the broader security implications of rapidly advancing AI technologies, and oversaw the OpenAI Cyber Grant Program, which supports academic and independent researchers working to improve global cyber resilience.\r\rBefore joining OpenAI, Matt co-founded Agitator LLC, a startup focused on cybersecurity and radio-frequency research. His background spans software, infrastructure, and security research, and he remains hands-on.\r\rMatt holds an engineering degree from Dartmouth College and serves as co-chair of Reverse Rett San Francisco, a non-profit initiative committed to curing pediatric genetic disease.",
