Summary

Bu Cuarón is a 22-year-old artist with a clear vision of where she’s headed. Her debut EP, Drop By When You Drop Dead (2024), blends indie pop with influences from hip-hop, Latin music, and electronica, reflecting years of experimentation and artistic development. Her songwriting is deeply personal and moves fluidly between English, Spanish, and Italian—languages she speaks thanks to a multicultural upbringing between Tuscany, London, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. This global perspective shapes both the sound and storytelling in her music. The daughter of five-time Academy Award–winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, Bu began studying piano at age four before adding violin and guitar. By 11 she was writing songs, and by 13 she was producing her own music. A chance introduction to Grammy-winning producer Theron Feemster led to the recording of “Psycho,” which appeared on the 2019 album Music Inspired by the Film ‘Roma’, alongside artists including Beck and Patti Smith.
